Nicolas Bau

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.

My research interests include international cooperation and international political economy. I study how domestic and international transitions shape industrialized nations' engagement with the Global South, focusing on the political economy of foreign aid, development finance, international organizations, and firm behavior. My work is forthcoming or has appeared at International Studies Quarterly, and the Journal of International Development.

I hold an M.A. in Political Science from Sciences Po, Paris. I have gained research and policy experience at the ENS-PSL, the OECD, and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. My research has been supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Ernst and Lucie Schmidheiny Foundation. During the academic year 2025-26, I was a visiting researcher at Princeton University, USA.
